SUMMIT, NJ -  Downtown Summit's streets were lined with booths housing the wares from more than 100 artisans as the Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts Fair was held Sunday, kicking off a week-long festival, Discover Summit Arts.

Discover Summit Arts continues through June 29, with activities that include art exhibitions and lectures, the Minuetto Music Festival, artwork by local artists, live art demonstrations, dance, public art walks, creative art therapies and healing arts, photography, and local theatre.
The Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts was a popular destination, with people strolling down the streets and perusing booths offering jewelry, clothing, custom art, decorations of every kind, and other collectible items.  The hand-made treasures available were manufactured from nearly every material imaginable, including wood, glass, stone, fabric, and metal.
Outside the Summit train station, live music performances included offerings from the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, which performed selections from both Classical and Baroque era as well as opera and popular music.  The music of Bach, Mozart, Verdi and Puccini soothed patrons on a warm and steamy afternoon.  Nearby, al Fresco dining was the order of the day, as the outdoor spaces offered by the downtown restaurants and cafes remained busy throughout the event.
