CALDWELL, NJ - After several serious fires at the beginning of this year - notably the Gould Place Fire on Jan. 23 - the Caldwell governing body voted unanimously to support the creation of the Caldwell Fire Prevention Bureau. Caldwell Fire Chief Gary Garamella announced Tuesday that the bureau is now officially opened and will be located at Caldwell Fire Headquarters, 30 Roseland Avenue.
"Effective Tuesday, the Borough of Caldwell officially took over as the local enforcement authority for the fire code which previously was done by the NJ Division of Fire Safety," Garamella commented.
