By THE ALTERNATIVE PRESS STAFF

November 27, 2013 at 10:11 AM

UNION COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for urban areas and small streams in Union County until 10:45 a.m.

Its bulletin reads:

AT 944 AM EST...EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY RAINFALL EARLIER THIS MORNING WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES ACROSS THE WARNING AREA. STREAMS ARE EXPECTED TO RECEDE LATE THIS MORNING.

A flood warning indicates that flooding is imminent or has already been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. After the flood warning expires, a flood watch will remain in effect in the area until 4 p.m. Wednesday. A watch means that potential for flooding exists based on current forecasts.
