CHATHAM BOROUGH, NJ - A woman is dead after her car hit a tree Thursday afternoon in the borough.
According to police, shortly before 3:30 p.m. they received a report of a car that had struck a tree in the area of 158 N. Passaic Ave. On arrival, police found a woman alone in the car, in very serious condition, according to reports.
With the assistance of the Chatham Fire Department and the Chatham Emergency Squad, the victim was removed from her car and CPR was started. The victim was transported to the Morristown Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 4:19 p.m.
Pending notification of the next of kin, the victim is only identified as a 75-year-old female from Florham Park.
Also responding to the scene to assist with the investigation were members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and Chatham Police Traffic Safety Officer Robert Sweetin. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
