GREEN BROOK, NJ - Residents of Green Brook and North Plainfield will be able to participate in the Somerset County Freeholders’ “BOBO Friday” food drive on April 25 at three locations. BOBO stands for “Buy One Bring One,” and the project encourages Somerset County residents to pick up extra items during their weekly shopping and then donate the items for local food banks.
The monthly food drive is currently spearheaded by Freeholder Patricia Walsh, formerly the Mayor for Green Brook.
Food collection bins will be placed throughout Somerset county, including at the North Plainfield Library on Rockview Avenue, and the North Plainfield and Green Brook municipal halls.
Items that are good to donate include canned vegetables, meats, fruit and pasta sauces; dried fruit and nuts; rice, pasta and crackers; powdered or shelf-stable cow milk or soy/rice alternative; canned or dried beans; and low-sugar fruit spreads and peanut butter. Donations should be in non-breakable containers, so donors should avoid foods encased in glass.
