WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Jeff LaQuaglia rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns to lead Caldwell to a 31-14 football victory over Parsippany Friday night.
It was the final game of the season for Caldwell (6-3), which became one of a small percentage of teams in New Jersey to play nine games this season.
The Chiefs opened a 13-0 lead with two touchdowns in the second quarter. LaQuaglia scored on a 21-yard run, then Luke Kurzum connected with Tyler Nolan on a touchdown pass that covered 88 yards. Nick McNish's extra point made the score 13-0.
Coming out of halftime with a 13-7 lead, Caldwell extended that when LaQuaglia ran 27 yards for a TD with 7:51 left in the third quarter. Parsippany (2-5) closed to within 20-14 with 2:24 left in the third quarter.
With 8:55 left in the contest, McNish made it a two-possession lead for the Chiefs with a 34-yard field goal. LaQuaglia put the game on ice with a 10-yard TD run with 6:07 to go followed by a two-point conversion pass from Peter Murray to Harry Boland.
