NEWARK, NJ — The Caldwell football team scored three touchdowns in the first quarter on its way to a 41-6 victory over Collegiate Saturday afternoon in Newark.

Touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards by Jeff LaQuaglia sandwiched around a 6-yard TD pass from Luke Kurzum to Steve Holler helped the Chiefs build a 23-0 lead. Ethan Cavallo followed two of those TDs with two-point conversion runs.

Leading, 23-6, at halftime, Caldwell put up 10 points in the third quarter on a 24-yard field goal by Nick McNish and a 45-yard TD pass from Kurzum to Harry Boland.

Cavallo capped the scoring with a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter followed by another conversion run.
