BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge football team scored all its touchdowns in the first half and went on to a 35-8 victory over Elizabeth at home Friday night.

Senior fullback Christian Sweeney scored three TDs as the Red Devils (5-1) built a 35-0 lead by halftime. After Chris Serluco returned the opening kickoff into Elizabeth territory, Sweeney capped the opening drive with a 22-yard TD run.

Senior quarterback Brendan Bell completed a 12-yard TD pass to Jack Perry to extend the Ridge lead to 14-0 after the second of Jake Beckman's five extra points.

Sweeney scored Ridge's next two TDs on runs of 5 yards and 1 yard. Jake Hoffman's 4-yard TD run extended the Red Devils' lead to 35-0.

Bell also had a 40-yard TD run called back for an offensive facemask penalty when he attempted to stiff-arm an Elizabeth defender. On defense, Bell recovered a fumble and Perry intercepted a pass.

Ridge will host Watchung Hills next Friday at 7 p.m.
