SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- For the first half of Saturday's game against Warren Hills, it looked like Scotch Plains-Fanwood would finally get the monkey off their backs and win their first regular season game.
The Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and even after surrendering a late TD to Warren Hills on a run by senior quarterback Garrett Koch just before half-time, there was optimism that the team might be able to break into the win column.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, Warren Hills rebounded and scored 35 unanswered points in the second half to stun their hosts, 42-14, at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's varsity field.
Warren Hills' Sean Morris ran for 153 yards. Anthony Porter racked up 149 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown for Scotch Plains. Alex Oslislo also had a 100-yard day for the Raiders and an interception on defense. Shawn Martin ran for 60 yards on 8 carries.
The Raiders play on the road against Gov. Livingston on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1:30 p.m.
