The “empty” weeks between Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl can present a challenge to football fans. With these folks in mind, Scotch Plains Public Library has planned a Football Weekend to help fans and loved ones get through the break.
It wouldn’t be the Super Bowl without delicious snack foods-but is it possible to enjoy your favorites without defeating your New Year’s health goals? Jennifer Bridgeman, known for her innovative approach to creating healthy and delicious food, says ‘Yes!’
On Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2:00 pm, Jennifer will share tips on lightening up your favorite treats without sacrificing taste, followed by a hands-on workshop where you will create your own mini 7-layer dip to take home.
On Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2:00 pm, join author and 30 for 30 producer Jerry Barca for an afternoon of football history. Barca, author of Big Blue Wrecking Crew: Smashmouth Football, A Little Bit of Crazy and the ’86 Super Bowl Champs, will talk about the strange and revealing elements that go into building a championship team.
The New York Giants were an embarrassment in the late 1970s until a disparate group of characters came together to lead the team on an unlikely journey to the franchise’s first Super Bowl win. There’s Parcells, Simms and Taylor…and Donald Trump, Mark Bavaro and Phil McConkey, too. The author will have copies of Big Blue Wrecking Crew available for purchase and signing. He’ll also mix in stories of team building from his first book, Unbeatable: Notre Dame’s 1988 Championship and the Last Great College Football Season.
