August 29, 2014 at 11:05 PM

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ - For the 23rd year, the traditional end-of-summer bike race and reunion of township residents on Labor Day, the Olde Mill inn Tour of Basking Ridge presented by Liberty Cycle and Bernards Township will be held this Monday in downtown Basking Ridge.

Adult races begin at 7 a.m., with races for kids ages three to 12 to begin at noon, according to Greg Cordasco, co-owner of Liberty Cycle, 107 S. Maple Ave., also in Basking Ridge.  The start and finish line is at the corner of Lewis Street and S. Finley Ave.

Preregistration is required for races, even children. Children may sign up until 10 a.m. on the day of the race by registering online through the township website. The race is free for children, but all must wear bicycle helmets, no matter what their age category, or even if they have training wheels.

Adult cyclists also must register online prior to the event. The adult races have fees and cash prizes.

The annual race is one of the top township events of the year welcoming everyone back from summer, Cordasco said. He said the event is "a great day with the kids races and adult races for beginners to professionals."

Greg and Ingrid Cordasco, the owners of Liberty Cycle, and their three children, are longtime residents of Bernards Township. The couple said they are proud of what the event has become.

Greg Cordasco added that Liberty Corner and the150-person bike club associated with the shop are celebrating 25 years this year of being part of Bernards Towenship and the Somerset Hills.
