Former West Orange Resident to Star as Nala in "The Lion King"

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Former West Orange resident, nine-year old  K'Lynn Jackman, is heading to Broadway to star as Nala in "The Lion King" on September 23.

K'Lynn and her family, including 5 brothers and sisters, currently resides in Orange. According to her mother Wendy Contant,, "K'Lynn has been singing since she was a baby in her crib, using her bottle as her microphone."

Said K'Lynn, "I always wanted to be on the Lion King as Nala," as she recounted watching the movie on DVD and seeing commercials for the Broadway show.

"To actually get an opportunity to audition for the production and get a call that she is officially Nala on The Lion King...I was thrilled and so honored to be a part of the Lion King family on Broadway!"

With a special God-given talent, she has performed in several notable events and locations including Nets and Newark Bears games; Madison Square Garden; the McDonald's Gospel Fest, the the First Annual Whitney Houston Tribute Celebration, and the Apollo theatre, as well as appearance on CBS 2 New York, pageants, and radio.

Says K'Lynn's mom, "K’lynn believes that through determination, hard work and her strong love for her family and God, nothing is impossible if you start with a dream and give it a chance."
