Free Memberships For Seventh Graders at the West Essex YMCA

LIVINGSTON, NJ – Local seventh graders are being offered free memberships to the West Essex YMCA as part of a global Y campaign called the “Seventh Grade Initiative.”

The West Essex Y has offered this program for five years and has provided over 250 seventh graders with one-year memberships at no cost.

“Seventh grade is such a pivotal point in our children’s puberty,“ said Cheryl Francione, Associate Executive Director. “This is when lifelong habits regarding physical activity and sound nutrition really start to develop. At the West Essex YMCA, we are pleased to offer this opportunity, to help our youth become healthier, stronger and more active adults.”

A parent or guardian must be present to complete the registration for seventh graders. Students must bring a report card showing completion of sixth grade or current seventh grade enrollment or school ID. All participants are also offered free programs, such as: teen workouts and Leaders Club participation.

For more information on the free seventh grade membership or any YMCA program, visit the Welcome Center at 321 South Livingston Avenue in Livingston, NJ, or call (973) 992-7500. Information is also available at
