In recognition of Freeholder Kenneth Armwood’s commitment to public service, community development, and youth outreach, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Middlesex County will recognize him at their May 5 event, Toast 2019.

Freeholder Kenneth Armwood has been aware of the disparities that exist for youth from a very early age. Although he has been mentored by strong men and women, years spent in service in his hometown of Piscataway made him well aware of the harsh realities that many youth face in and around Middlesex County.

Freeholder Armwood started his career coordinating numerous fundraisers to support shelters for homeless families and victims of domestic violence. Then at 19 years old, he became the youngest official to serve on the Piscataway Board of Education and has remained a public servant ever since.

After serving as Councilman-at-Large in Piscataway, in 2013 he was appointed and later elected Freeholder and overseer of the Middlesex County Business Development and Education Committee.

Even in his professional career, Freeholder Armwood has advocated for youth in roles as Administrator of Youth Services for the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey, co-founder of the World Youth Leadership & Activism Conference, and as current Overseer of Behavior Management for thousands of youth through the Job Corp program.

There are parallels with Freeholder Kenneth Armwood’s advocacy work and the work of CASA of Middlesex County, a non-profit that serves to advocate for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Noting this, Freeholder Armwood stated “How we protect and support our children is a true reflection of our society and serves as a vital investment in our future generations. The role of CASA therefore remains critical to ensuring our youth and communities succeed today and tomorrow.” In his political and professional career, Freeholder Armwood maintains a reputation of being a champion for all people.

Toast 2019 will consist of a champagne brunch to be held on May 5, 2019 at Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick. To join CASA in celebrating the accomplishments of Freeholder Kenneth Armwood at this event, visit www.casaofmiddlesexcounty.org/Toast2019.
