SUMMIT, NJ - Girls Track Team member Ryan Freeman and Boys Varsity Volleyball player Robbie Walsh have been named Summit High School Athletes of the Week, presented by The Alternative Press of Summit, for the week ending May 4.
Each week throughout the school year, one girl and boy athlete will be honored for distinguishing herself / himself in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.
Freeman is the Hilltoppers top long and triple jumper, and their number two high jumper.
At the recently-concluded Union County relays, Freeman won two golds, was part of a meet / school record high jump, a school record in triple jump, and placed third in long jump. She also set an individual school record in triple jump, and holds the school record in the long jump.
"Ryan is a very talented and hard working student athlete," said Head Coach Adam Fern. "She is one of the top multi-event jumpers in the state, and a just outstanding young woman."
Walsh leads the 14-4 Hilltoppers in "Kills" with 169, and Blocks with 29.
“Robbie is one of those players that can completely take over a game. He plays all six positions on the court and can hit, pass, serve, and block,” said Head Coach John Ross.
