PARKLAND, FL- Florida reported 7,121 new Coronavirus cases and 62 new deaths on Friday. 

People 16 and older are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. People 18 are eligible for the Pfizer, Moderna or the J&J vaccine.

Teens who are 16 and17 need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on vaccination day. They must bring documentation such as their birth certificate complete the COVID-19 vaccine screening and consent form. To download a copy of the form, click here.

Florida has vaccinated a total of 6,942,405 and 4,190,513 have completed the series. Broward County has vaccinated 620,753 and 368,306 have completed the series.

The percent of positive results ranged from 6.12% to 7.64% over the past 2 weeks and was 6.51% on Thursday, April 8, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Friday, April 9, 2021:

Florida: 2,111,807 confirmed cases, an increase of 15,060 since Wednesday. 

Broward County: 221,628 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,836 since Wednesday. 

Parkland: 2,550 total confirmed cases, an increase of 29 since Wednesday. 

Coral Springs: 12,856 total confirmed cases, an increase of 253 since Wednesday. 

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 33,822 an increase of 146 since Wednesday.  

Broward County: 9,596 (4.3%) total hospitalizations with 2,717 (1.2%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 8 since Wednesday. The median age is 39.

Broward County Percent Positive: 6.8% per the latest data on April 8, 2021.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 1025 (18.7%) beds available and 76 (15.2%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on April 9, 2021.

Parkland Schools Total Cases According to the Florida Department of Health's Latest Data Through March 27:

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 18 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 61 cases 
  • Mary Help of Christians School: 10 cases 
  • Park Trails Elementary: 34 cases 
  • Riverglades Elementary: 33 cases 
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 19 cases 
  • Westglades Middle School: 29 cases
