PARKLAND, FL- Florida reported 7,296 new cases of COVID-19 and 92 deaths on Wednesday.

Florida has vaccinated a total of 7,823,859 and 4,910,971 have completed the series. Broward County has vaccinated 713,850 and 436,355 have completed the series.

The percent of positive results ranged from 6.37% to 8.14% over the past 2 weeks and was 6.83% on Thursday, April 15, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Friday, April 16, 2021:

Florida: 2,155,744 confirmed cases, an increase of 14,058 since Wednesday. 

Broward County: 226,990 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,638 since Wednesday. 

Parkland: 2,634 total confirmed cases, an increase of 28 since Wednesday. 

Coral Springs: 13,222 total confirmed cases, an increase of 116 since Wednesday. 

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 34,330 an increase of 166 since Wednesday.  

Broward County: 9,715 (4.3%) total hospitalizations with 2,762 (1.2%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 29 since Wednesday. The median age is 38.

Broward County Percent Positive: 8.3% per the latest data on April 12, 2021.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 974 (18.0%) beds available and 90 (17.6%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on April 13, 2021.

Parkland Schools Total Cases According to the Florida Department of Health's Latest Data Through March 27:

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 18 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 61 cases 
  • Mary Help of Christians School: 10 cases 
  • Park Trails Elementary: 34 cases 
  • Riverglades Elementary: 33 cases 
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 19 cases 
  • Westglades Middle School: 29 cases
