LIVINGSTON, NJ - Friends of the Livingston Library will hold its annual Pool Prose and Beach Books Sale on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, June 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Program Room at the Livingston Library. For more information about donating or about the sale, visit the website livingston.bccls.org (Friends section), call 973-992-4600 X505, or send an email to friends_livlibrary@verizon.net.

The sale will offer about 7,000 books and other items for adults and children. Adult books will be exclusively fiction and will be sorted into categories including general fiction, romance, mystery/thriller, science fiction and fantasy, and classics. The youth fiction and non-fiction section will be sorted by age including sections for children, young readers, and young adults. In addition to books, the sale will offer a variety of puzzles, games, and table top toys including stuffed animals.

Prices will be half the price of the already low-prices offered in the Friends’ ongoing book sale. Adult fiction hardcovers will cost $.50, adult fiction softcovers will cost $.25, and all children’s, young readers and teen books will be $.25. Many games and puzzles will be priced at $1.00 each. Toys will start at $.25 each.

The sale will also include a drawing for two baskets—one for children and one for adults. No purchase is necessary to win. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the sale and need not be present to win.

During the sale the ongoing book sale shelves outside the Program Room will be further stocked with non-fiction books and non-print media at the usual low prices.

All funds generated by the sale will go to support the Library and its use. The Friends sponsors the Children and Teens Summer Reading Program, Yoga for Kids, and several series including Music Matters, Think Theater, and Literary Liaisons. The Friends also funds the recently-expanded Museum Pass Program and the purchase of some 300 books and databases yearly. IN addition, Friends supports the E-reader Experience Program that allows patrons to borrow e-readers preloaded with books for adults or children as well as the subscription to Book Page, a nationwide monthly newsletter featuring book reviews and author interviews.

Friends of the Library welcomes the donation of gently used books, games, table-top toys, CDs, DVDs, and audio books all year round. Donations may be left at the Friends Desk any time the Library is open. A tax receipt is available from the Help Desk. Since Friends is no longer able to accept magazines, VHS tapes, cassettes, and text books, Friends request that these items not be brought in for donation.
