FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - “Beads of Hope “is a Fanwood-Scotch Plains (FSP) Rotary project that benefits the girls of “Set Her Free” in Kampala, Uganda. The beautiful jewelry, all handcrafted, will be available for sale at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA on Saturday, from 9 am to 12 pm
“Set Her Free” is a non-profit organization that is working to restore the lives of young girls formerly enslaved by the sex trades—a particularly vile form of child labor. FSP Rotary provides the funding for the operation of a home situated in the Kawempe division of Kampala, Uganda.
“This serves as a home that provides not only food and shelter, but also formal education, technical training, counseling, medical care, mentoring, and resettlement opportunities. They are given love, support, and the chance to succeed,” said Kiran Dhaliwal, Chairperson of the local Rotary’s International Committee. “All the jewelry is handmade by the girls at the rehabilitation house and 100% of the profits go to this cause.”
Each piece is artful and unique. The sale of these beads will help pay for food, shelter and the rehabilitation process of these young girls. “And, of course, they make great Holiday presents,” said Dhaliwal.
