PERTH AMBOY, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) Swim Team had a strong showing at the YMCA Bronze Championship Meet, held February 9 and 10 at the Raritan Bay YMCA. Swimmers ages 9-18 with YMCA Bronze qualifying times were eligible to compete at this meet. Many FSPY swimmers finished in the top 16 in their events across all age groups.

9-10 Age Group

Ashlyn D’Souza led the way for the 9-10 girls, touching 1st in the 100 Breast, 2nd in the 200 IM and 50 Fly, 7th in the 100 Fly, 8th in the 100 Free, and 10th in the 100 Back. Tessa DeGennaro  finished 7th in the 100 IM, 12th in the 50 Fly and 14th in the 50 Back. Other top 16 finishers included Colleen Gillen (11th, 100 Breast; 12th, 50 Breast), Genevieve Pope (8th, 50 Back; 13th, 200 IM), Jamie Trela (11th, 200 IM; 14th, 100 Back), and Amy Jiang (12th, 100 Free).

Terry Gould finished 8th in the 50 Back for the 9-10 boys. Ben Fenandoe was 14th in the 50 Breast.

11-12 Age Group

In the 11-12 girls age group, Mia Gonyou finished 5th in the 50 Breast and 11th in the 100 Breast. Caitlin Carter was 13th in the 50 Back.

For the 11-12 boys, Eryn Gublin finished 2nd in the 200 Free, 6th in the 100 IM, and 8th in the 200 IM. Brody Linenberg was 7th in the 50 free, 10th in the 50 Fly, and 12th in the 100 free.

13-14 Age Group

The 13-14 girls placed in the top 16 in several events, including three 1st place finishes. Avery Higinbotham led the way by touching 1st in the 100 Free and 200 IM, 6th in the 100 Fly, and 9th in the 100 Back. Gabby Green finished 1st in the 100 Breast, 2nd in the 100 Free, 3rd in the 50 Free and 200 Free, and 8th in the 100 Fly. Leanne Dailey was 3rd in the 200 Back and 200 IM, 7th in the 100 Free, 8th in the 200 Free, and 11th in the 100 Back. Other top 16 finishers included Jessica Markwant  (2nd, 100 Fly; 3rd, 200 Breast; 8th, 100 Breast; 9th, 200 IM), Helena Chan (2nd, 50 Free;  3rd, 100 Free; 16th, 200 IM), Katelyn Gaulin (7th, 200 IM; 15th, 200 Back), Jessica Rojek (7th, 100 Breast, 200 Breast), Julianna Warren (5th, 100 Breast, 200 IM), and Chloe Burfeindt (7th, 200 Free).

James Sullivan, finished 1st in the 100 Free, 2nd in the 200 Free, and 7th in the 100 Fly and 200 IM. Gavin Morrobel touched 1st in the 100 Back, 10th in the 100 Breast, and 15th in the 200 IM. Thomas Yick finished 4th in the 200 Free, 5th in the 100 Breast, 10th in the 50 Free and 100 Free, and 13th in the 100 Back. Other top 16 finishers included Jack Perreault (3rd, 200 Back; 5th, 100 Back; 9th, 100 Fly) and Sohem Rai (7th, 100 Breast).

15-18 Age Group

In the 15-18 girls age group, Sylvia Rozalski finished 2nd in the 200 Free, 3rd in the 50 Free and 100 Back, 7th in the 200 IM, and 12th in the 100 free. Aubrey Bagdonas was 6th in the 100 Breast, 8th in the 100 Fly, 13th in the 100 Back, and 15th in the 200 IM. Nicole Kenny finished 3rd in the 200 Back, 7th in the 100 Back, 13th in the 200 Free, and 14th in the 50 Free. Other top 16 finishers included Gillian Strout (13th, 50 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Fly; 14th in the 100 Free), Isabella Betman (6th, 200 free; 9th, 50 Free; 13th, 100 Free), Angela Panikiewski (11th, 100 Fly), and Lara Espiritu (16th, 100 Fly).

Kieran Scanlon finished 2nd in the 200 Back, 4th in the 100 Fly, 6th in the 200 Free, 10th in the 200 IM, and 15th in the 100 Free for the 15-18 boys. Owen Ferrone touched 6th in the 200 IM, 7th in the 100 Breast, 11th in the 100 Fly, and 13th in the 200 Free. Spencer Linenberg was 16th in the 50 Free.
