Full-Day Kindergarten Social "Open House" Saturday, Aug. 16 at Little Angels School House

August 12, 2014 at 9:25 PM

CHATHAM, NJ - When the new school year opens on Sept. 4 in Chatham, parents will have the option of sending their children to a full-day kindergarten program at Little Angels School House, located at 110 Main St.

After researching the need for full-day kindergarten in Chatham, Little Angels School House Founder and Director Rima Numan decided to make it happen.

"Parents have been asking for this," Numan said. "We are not in competition with anyone, but we are seeking to fill a need for Chatham families who want to enroll their child in a full-day kindergarten program. We wanted to make full-day kindergarten a reality in the Chatham community.

Little Angels School House will hold a Kindergarten Social Open House Saturday, Aug. 16 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

The full-day kindergarten program will run on the same schedule as the School District of the Chathams Elementary Schools. The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m., allowing time for parents to pick up siblings at other Chatham schools. Before- and after care will be offered, as well. Before Care will run from 7 to 8:30 a.m. After care will begin at 3:15 and end at 7 p.m.

Numan is well-versed in the advantages of full-day kindergarten programs, and acknowledges that this is not for everyone. She believes that children in her program will benefit from more individualized learning and has limited enrollment to 10 children.

"This will pave the way for long-term achievement," Numan said. "There really aren't any negative consequences coming out of full-day kindergarten programs."

Numan added that she believes the full-day program will be more relaxed and less hurried, allowing the students to participate in more varied experiences.
