WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -  Paterson Charter pitcher Maxibel Garcia struck out 20 of 22 Wood-Ridge batters and hit a two-run home run as Paterson Charter defeated Wood-Ridge, 3-1 on Friday evening in NJIC Meadowlands Division softball action at Donna Ricker Field at Wood-Ridge High School.

Garcia blasted her two-run home run in the third inning, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.   Bella Tejada also homered for Paterson Charter in the fourth inning, to make the score 3-0.  

Blue Devils’ catcher Samantha Perez ruined Garcia’s perfect game drilling a home run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 3-1.  But Garcia was perfect the rest of the way, striking out the last nine Wood-Ridge batter she faced to close out the victory.

It was the last home game of the season for Wood-Ridge, which also celebrated Senior Night. Before the game, the Lady Blue Devils honored senior outfielder Casey Schulz, and recognized two seniors for Paterson Charter, Maxibel Garcia and Nile'Asia Earth.
