BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Ideas to continue to improve Bloomfield Center were at the forefront of the Bloomfield Council Conference Meeting held Monday evening in the conference room of the Law Enforcement Building.
Present at the meeting were Mayor Michael J. Venezia, First-Ward Councilwoman Jenny Mundell, Second-Ward Councilman Nicholas Joanow, Third-Ward Councilwoman Sarah Cruz, Councilwoman-At-Large Nina Davis, Councilman-At-Large Ted Gamble and Councilman-At-Large Richard Rockwell.
Among the highlights at the meeting were a presentation of the continuing ‘Gateway to Bloomfield Center’ project by Bloomfield Center Alliance Director Ollyn Lettman. Discussed were several potential cosmetic improvements to the Parkway area near Bloomfield Center that are seen by drivers.

Lettman welcomed the consultant James Ribaudo, Director of Operations at Arterial, who was brought onboard to come up with an overall design to visually upgrade the Bloomfield Center area around the Parkway.
Arterial, located in Montclair, is a designing firm who have tackled several other projects within Bloomfield. All the ideas and proposed upgrade are still in the planning stages with no money yet to be committed to the project.
The Council also discussed re-bonding several existing bonds at more favorable rates. A vote is expected at the next meeting.
Methods to keep residents more informed about community news and happenings was discussed with social media at the forefront as a vehicle to continue to disseminate information and keep everyone up to date.
Councilwoman Nina Davis shared exciting news that Councilwoman Sarah Cruz is researching and collecting information on influential African Americans from the rich history of Bloomfield to share with the community during Black History Month.
The next Township Council Regular Meeting is Monday, February 25 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building.
