Get Educated and 'Know the Bear Facts' on Saturday at Chatham Township Municipal Building

Bears have frequented the township looking for food

CHATHAM, NJ - Residents are invited to a seminar on bears that will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Chatham Township Municipal Building.

Michelle Smith, a bear educator from the State of New Jersey, Division of Fish and Wildlife, will provide information about bear activity.

"We've had frequent bear sightings up in the Highland area, up on Huron and even over here on Sunset," Chatham Township Mayor Nicole Hagner said. "Residents have asked a lot of questions, and we thought it would be important to have their questions answered by someone in person.

"They're going to explain the state's position on bears; educate us, really. It's a state policy not to capture and relocate".
