Ghosts Win Third Straight Football Game, 43-21, over Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, NJ - With the help of a big all-around performance by Terrence Tate, who scored touchdowns three different ways, the Eastside varsity football team scored its third consecutive victory, 43-21, over Fair Lawn on Saturday.

Eastside scored 23 points in the first quarter and went on to its first road victory of 2013. Tate caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tahj Upshaw in the first quarter and returned an interception 56 yards for a TD in the opening period. Tate also contributed a 14-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

The Ghosts took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Upshaw to Prince Block. Tevaughn Grant's tackled of a Fair Lawn runner in the end zone gave Eastside a safety and an 8-0 lead.

A 14-yard touchdown run by Marlon Ebanks in the second quarter extended Eastside's lead to 30-6. Block also scored on a 28-yard TD return with a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.

Tate finished with 10 receptions for 103 yards, 60 rushing yards on five carries, one interception and six sacks on defense.

Upshaw completed 16 of 24 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Ebanks carried 10 times for 85 yards.

On defense, Grant and Akinde McQueen each came through with 2.5 sacks and made 10 tackles each.
