BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Berkeley Heights Environmental Committee and Eighth-Grade Girl Scout Troop 40674 have engaged in a garden clean-out program.
Volunteers meet at least once a month to weed and maintain the gardens at Peppertown Park on Plainfield Avenue and Sherman Avenue by the train station in Berkeley Heights. The girl scouts helped to weed and plant sweet pepper plants on Saturday, Sept. 14.
"We gather at least once a month to further beautify our town and park to remove invasive plants and weeds," said Stephanie Zecca, member of the Environmental Committee. "The weeds take away the needed nutrients for the native plants."
It is a collective project that encompasses all ages. Siblings are welcome too. For information, and to volunteer, contact Stephanie Zecca at firstname.lastname@example.org.
