CEDAR GROVE, NJ - The Cedar Grove Panthers are playing impressive team basketball after a 46-36 victory over Mount St. Dominic Academy gives the squad their sixth consecutive win.

“It was a great win…these kids amaze me.  They are so committed to each other, they don’t want to let each other down,” said Head Coach Bill Scanlon.

The Panthers made their most impressive run at the end of the second quarter. A seven to one scoring run sparked with shots from Chloe Weinstein and Ryan Cannataro helped Cedar Grove to a 22-15 halftime lead.

“They continue to pick each other up, it’s great it really is,” said Scanlon.

Weinstein was a force in the first half collecting all 12 of her team-high points. Weinstein notched four three-pointers to give her three consecutive games with an 11-point average.

“Everyone had to step up as a team and my team was making perfect passes to me so I could just get the shot off quick and it started going in,” said Weinstein.

The Panthers then pounced on the MSD squad in the third quarter. Defensively Cedar Grove forced seven of their 19 turnovers in this frame to help prevent a Mount comeback.

“Everyone is responsible for their own, but you have to help each other out, I know my girl would go fast down the court so I just had to hustle to beat her down and stop ball,” said Weinstein.

Cedar Grove paced MSD’s offensive output using a cast of scorers. Jessica Green, Gianna Bocchino, Cannataro and Molly Bauer all collected buckets while the aforementioned Weinstein distributed the ball from the perimeter.

“I can’t speak more highly of this group,” said Scanlon.

Cedar Grove improves to 8-4 on the season as they’ve now won six straight games.

“Eight and four, I would have signed up for that on November 18th, that’s really something it’s really good,” said Scanlon.

The Panthers will look to continue their impressive winning streak when they take on a Newark Central team that will be looking for revenge after an opening night loss to Cedar Grove.

“We have to keep playing hard as a whole not for individual win or accomplishments just as one team,” said Weinstein.
