WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The third-seeded West Orange girls basketball team overcame an early deficit and hung on for a 46-44 victory over sixth-seeded East Orange in the quarterfinal round of the Essex County Tournament on Saturday.

Senior swing Mya Bembry scored 18 points for West Orange (18-3), which trailed, 18-10, after one quarter. Freshman guard Kiley Capstraw finished with 17 points for the Mountaineers, who came back to take a 28-22 halftime lead.

West Orange, which defeated East Orange for the third time this season, moves on to face second-seeded University of Newark in the ECT semifinals Wednesday, tentatively scheduled for Weequahic High School at a time TBA.
