BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Cedar Grove Panthers delivered both a strong offensive and defensive performance to defeat Gov. Livingston High School, 14-11, on Thursday in Berekely Heights.
The Panthers played a strong first half, jumping to a five goal lead at the half. Gov. Livingston battled back in the second half closing the gap to within one goal. However the Panthers delivered a strong defensive effort and remained patient on offense to maintain the lead and clinch the win.
"Today our girls earned another really good victory over a quality opponent. I thought our girls did a great job in transition today moving the bal to get open looks. That is something we worked on in practice yesterday and we benefited from it today big time," said Head Coach Sean Sweeney. "They have some players who have been scoring a lot of goals and we were able to wear them down."
Tracy Moreno and Jessie Green led for the Panthers, each delivering five goals and one assist in the winning effort. Bethany Peterson added two goals, while Taylor St. Laurent had a goal and an assist. Chloe St. Laurent scored one goal and Giuliana Macioci added an assist.
The Panthers move to 8-2 for the season. They host Parsippany Hills on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
