MONTVILLE, NJ - The Sparta High School girls soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie against Montville on Thursday afternoon at Montville Township High School.

Bella Vito scored both goals for Montville, as she found the back of the net once in each half. She gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the first half, and the team took that lead into the break. Sparta tied it up in the second half, before Vito scored yet again with 13:55 left to go in the game to regain the lead. But it could not hold the lead, as Sparta struck again to tie it up, and neither team was able to find the game-winner in overtime.

Alisa Willamson and Rebecca Lefkowitz got past the Mustang's keeper for Sparta in the second half.  Savannah Rode and Kate Mazzella assisted. Taige Kellenberger had seven saves. 

Sparta's record  is 8-4-3. Montville's is now 6-5-2. Sparta will face rival Pope John on Tuesday at 7 p.m. under the lights.
