BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- Although Ridge had the big advantage in shots on goal, Pingry won the battle on the scoreboard with a 2-1 girls soccer victory over the Red Devils on Wednesday.

Sophia Cavaliere scored both goals for Pingry (2-2-1) in a game in which all the goals were scored before halftime. Cavaliere's tiebreaking goal with 11:56 came on a shot from straight on into the top shelf just above the extended reach of Ridge keeper Allison Miscia.

Cavaliere's first goal gave Pingry a 1-0 lead. Ridge (2-3-1) tied it, 1-1, with 21 minutes left in the first half on Tayler Mark's goal off a scramble in front of the net with an assist by Ryan Rosevear.

Ridge attempted 11 shots on goal to four for Pingry, but Caitlin Swarz made 10 saves for Pingry.
