CHATHAM, NJ – The comeback is always stronger than the setback and Glaze Salon of Chatham is proving their resolve against the coronavirus pandemic as it prepares for the upcoming holiday season.

When salons were allowed to reopen in June, Glaze Salon co-owner Cindi Galiher knew that customer safety was paramount to ensure the continued success of the salon while restoring confidence in being in an indoor public environment. That’s why they have incorporated a number of safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.

The moment customers walk into Glaze Salon they are screened for their temperatures and must sign in for contact tracing purposes before they are allowed in to ensure the safety of everyone in the facility. For additional safety and social distancing purposes, plexi glass dividers have been installed in the hair wash and coloring stations as well as nail painting areas. In order to reduce the number of people waiting, the salon has implemented an appointment-only system to prevent an overload of people inside at the same time.

“We’ve always sanitized everything in this profession anyway, but now we are doubling our efforts and are extra careful,” explained Galiher. “We couldn’t be any cleaner as we want to continue promoting a COVID-free environment.”

In addition to commissioning a special ventilation system that does not recirculate the air, Galiher explained that the salon invested in two medical grade air purifier units that kill germs in a 2,500 sq. foot area to ensure fresh air feed.

Since the reopening, the customers have returned in flocks, but Galiher maintains that it is all being done in a safe way to promote a COVID-free environment. During the first two weeks of Glaze Salon’s reopening, she estimates that the salon had over 800 customers serviced in that period or about three times what they anticipated.

Although the salon has seen the return for many of its customers, there is still a three-month hole in sales. However, Galiher says that the main priority is still servicing the customer and ensuring their experience meets the lavish standard set by the salon in its grand opening just over a year ago.

“I don’t think that anyone can say that they’re ahead (in sales or revenue),” said Galiher. “But as you can see, we still have customers that come in and they feel comfortable about what we are doing. That’s all I want to hear from our customers is ‘I’m safe and comfortable.’”

The full-service salon offers a variety of quality services from top of the line hair treatments to nails and waxing. Glaze Salon has announced it will be hosting several holiday-themed happenings this year providing an alternative to madness of shopping in large crowds at malls this season with fun and relaxed Save, Sip and Shop events, which will feature champagne, wine, raffles, prizes and discounts on merchandise, products and services. Complimentary gift wrapping will be offered at these events.

The first event is set for this upcoming Thursday, November 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. There are also events scheduled for Sunday, November 22nd and Sunday, December 13th.
