Glen Ridge Celebrates National Night Out

GLEN RIDGE, NJ - The Glen Ridge Police Department have invited all to join them for National Night Out Against Crime at the Glen Ridge Community Pool 5-7PM.

National Night Out, an unofficial national holiday, is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States. It is annually held on the first Tuesday of August since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of town Watch in the United States and Canada.

National Night Out was created to increase awareness about police programs in communities such as drug prevention, town watch and neighborhood watch.  Events around the country are normally organized by block watches, non-for-profit organizations, companies and police departments.  These organized events can be as simple as backyard barbecues to festivals.
