SUMMIT, NJ - Girls Varsity Lacrosse Goalie Kady Glynn and Boys Varsity Tennis player Maxwell McDonald have been named Summit High School Athletes of the Week, presented by The Alternative Press of Summit, for the week ending April 13.
Each week throughout the school year, one girl and boy athlete will be honored for distinguishing herself / himself in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.
Junior Glynn is a three-year varsity starter at goalie. Against three Top 20 teams last week, she was instrumental in three Summit victories. Glynn had seven saves against Ridgewood in an 11-10 victory, including several big stops in the second half. She added 12 saves against Westfield in an11-6 win, and topped the week off with 15 saves against West Essex in a 13-7 victory.
"Kady is a big game goalie who works extremely hard, and who keeps getting better every year. She is an important part of our defense that has led us to a 6-1 start," said Head Coach Mike Walsh.
Maxwell, a senior, is 6-0 this year playing First Singles, and has qualified for nationals. He is a four-year starter, and has been instrumental in helping the Hilltopper Tennis Team achieve a number 10 ranking in the state. McDponald has been All County and All State the past three years.
