Gov. Livingston Boys Lacrosse Loses to Newark Academy In OT


BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Gov. Livingston boys lacrosse suffered a tough overtime loss against Newark Academy, 9-8, Thursday night at Snyder Avenue Field. 

Much of the first period was scoreless, Garrett O’Connor put GL on the board with seconds remaining in the first period.

Newark Academy answered quickly to tie up the game within minutes into the second. Alex Lipnick scored to put GL ahead, 2-1, going into half-time.

Newark Academy dominated much of the third period with five goals. Brian Hutton kept GL in the game by scoring with 1:40 remaining in the third period making the score 3-6.

Gov. Livngston closed the gap with five goals in the fourth sending the game into overtime. Lipnick had two early goals with a goal by Newark Academy making the score 5-8. Hutton scored within the last minute of the game and Lipnick added two back to back goals to tie the game, 8-8. 

Newark Academy scored with 24 seconds remaining in overtime for the 9-8 victory.

The Highlanders' next game is away on April 14 at 3:30 p.m against Verona.
