BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Gov. Livingston girls lacrosse came back after an early four goal deficit to beat Lenape Valley 11-10 on Tuesday at Snyder Avenue Field in Berkeley Heights.

Right out of the gate, Lenape Valley ignited to win the first three draws scoring three quick goals -- adding a fourth, taking an early 4-0 lead.

After a necessary time-out, the Lady Highlanders accomplished an eight goal run led by Georgia Paradales, who patiently got through Lenape Valley's tight defense to place the Lady Highlanders on the board and change the momentum of the game.

"We weren't in the zone and Coach whipped us into gear and we were ready to go," said senior Erica Prezza. "Yesterday, we had a really great practice. We went over two new plays  that we were running on offense."

Both teams worked the ground ball and held onto a tight defense. Sophomore defender Alice Caballero, off a ground ball pick-up, sped past Lenape Valley to score the first of her three goals of the game.

Settling into the game and the execution of their new plays, junior Julia Martin found Prezza, who scored to make it a one point game.

Gov. Livingston remained strong on the offense, missing a few shot attempts. Martin connected with a successful stride, winning a draw that she ran to score. Martin finished the half with two additional goals giving the Lady Highlanders a 6-4 lead.

"Shot placement was a problem today on them [new offensive plays]" said Martin.  "We will still need to work with them in practice.  We put them in the game and we won."

Martin opened the second half scoring her fourth game goal from a free position attempt.  Caballero sped down the field driving past the defense to earn a game hat-trick.

Lindsay Gerrato added to the tally receiving a pass from Maddy Gerrato to advance Gov. Livingston's lead to 10-6.

Gov. Livingston hit many -- but many attempts were missed or blocked by the goaltending of Lenape Valley's Julia Leyden who made 13 saves in the game.  Prezza fired the last Gov. Livingston goal past Leyden giving the Lady Highlanders a comfortable 11-7 lead.

Maura Chozick and Sally Olson led Lenape Valley's offense scoring four goals a piece.  A late offensive surge pulled Lenape Valley within a goal at 11-10.

Time elapsed and the Lady Highlanders came out on top, advancing their record to 4-1.

The Lady Highlanders will host Boonton on Thursday at 4 p.m.
