Gov. Livingston Hosts 42nd Annual Teen Arts 2014: April 4 and 5

April 4, 2014 at 7:07 AM

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Governor Livingston High School PTO is proud to host the 42nd Annual Local Teen Arts Festival!  The festival will be held at the high school on Friday, April 4, 7p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each year, the festival showcases the talents of middle and high school students in our communities – Summit, New Providence, Mountainside and Berkeley Heights. This year, we have over 800 entries in the visual arts, video arts, creative writing and performing arts. The festival provides a truly unique opportunity for these students to exhibit their work for their teachers, their families and the public.  The event is free and all are encouraged to attend.

To design artwork for the festival, a contest was held at the school and three winners were chosen from the entries submitted. Senior Zach Pollins’ colorful creation was used for all color flyers and email communications. Junior Isha Mehrotra’s design was chosen as the official logo of the festival for the t-shirts and posters whereas Senior Kira Mathias-Prabhu’s sketch graces the program cover.  Congratulations to all our winners!

"We have a packed performing arts schedule on Friday with a lot of variety – dance, vocal, instrumental, even musical theater along with poetry readings [one which the critiquer said moved her to tears!] and video screenings," said PTO President and Teen Arts Chair, Anjali Mehrotra.

“We have fifteen really great art-themed baskets for the basket raffle – from theater tickets, to a video camera to a guitar - all valued at $100 or more!! Should be great," said Mehrotra.

The Teen Arts Festival is an annual comprehensive exhibition of musical performance, art, dance, writing, photography, and video sponsored by the PTOs/PTAs from New Providence, Summit, Berkeley Heights and Mountainside.
