TOMS RIVER, NJ - Gov. Livingston junior Victoria Vanriele was crowned NJSIAA Group 2 Champion, running the 800 in 2:09.72 and breaking the all Group record on Saturday at the Bennett Indoor Sports Complex.

Vanriele will look for a three-pete at the Meet of Champions next Sunday, Feb. 24. Last year, Vanriele won the 800m race in 2:08.81, a US#2 time and broke the meet record of 2:10.45, set by Olympian Ajee Wilson in 2009. 

The top six finishers in each event move on to the Meet of Champions next weekend. The boys will compete on Saturday, February 23, and the girls will compete on Sunday, February 24, both at the Bennett Indoor Track Complex in Toms River.

The following athletes will join Vanriele by qualifying for The Meet of Champions placing in the top six in their respective events:

Senior Darren DelDuca tied for fourth place in High Jump clearing 5' 8". 

The girls 4 X 400 relay team of Samantha Erickson, Alex Cassu, Sophie Cresitello, and Victoria Vanriele placed fourth in a time of 4:10.74.

Other Girls Results:

Sophomore Samantha Erickson placed seventh in 55M in 7.55.

Sophomore Caroline Mondelli placed 18th in 3200 in 5:30.26

Senior 13 Hanna Nordstrom placed 13th in Pole Vault with a vault of 8-06.  

Other Boys Results:

Sophomore Connor Splaine placed 19th in Shotput throwing 40-03.50.
