BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Lady Highlanders softball team earned the no. 3 seed in the Union County Tournament with first round of play at home against Scotch Plains on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m.
They began a busy week of softball Monday defeating Elizabeth, 19-0, and lost to Linden, 3-2, on Tuesday.
Gov. Livingston def. Elizabeth 19-0 in a three inning mercy ruling.
Madison Phillips pitched a perfect game striking out six players in three innings in the Elizabeth victory. Payton Murphy went two for three with 3 RBI and a home run. Hayley Berliner (2 RBI), Olivia Emanuel (3 RBI), Alex Foley (1 RBI), Colleen Frank (3 runs), Carolynne Goldbeck (1 RBI), Olivia Hendrzak (2 runs), Payton Murphy (3 RBI), Grace Sanzalone (1 RBI) and Kacie Worswick (1 RBI) each contributed to the win.
Gov. Livingston loses 3-2 to Linden in extra innings.
Linden was unstoppable in the field on Tuesday as they dove for balls and held the Lady Highlanders to two runs in this nine inning match-up.
Madison Phillips pitched the entire nine innings with 10 strike outs. Hailey Berliner went 1-3 with an RBI.
The Lady Highlanders now 6-7 will take on Metuchen on Thursday at home starting at 4 p.m.
