TRENTON, NJ - Governor Murphy highlighted the students of Saint Joseph High School during the #NJTHANKSYOU portion of his press briefing on Wednesday, for raising over $20K in less than two days for healthcare workers fighting COVID-19.

“We have to give a huge shout out to the students of Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen,” said Governor Murphy, “The students there decide to put together a fundraiser with a goal of $19K to deliver PPE to frontline workers in nearby JFK Medical Center in Edison, and they delivered. In just two days they raised more than $20K and all of it will go to support JFK’s medical heroes.”

The fundraiser was the creation of the school’s Campus Ministry team that hosted a COVID-$19K fundraiser to raise money for the men and women on the front lines at JFK Medical Center.

Although the fundraiser runs through midnight on May 6, the students had raised over $20K by midday on Wednesday. Donations are still being accepted.

Governor Murphy congratulated the students and reflected on statewide pride.  “These are the stories that remind us that our New Jersey spirit and our New Jersey values are our greatest assets,” he said.

All proceeds will go to the JFK Foundation for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other items that are needed by medical professionals to help save lives and protect themselves.
