FANWOOD, NJ – Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr cut the ribbon for the grand opening of Sacred Karma Yoga and Wellness Center, a full-service yoga studio, on Saturday morning at 222 South Ave.
“It is always a privilege and an honor to welcome a new business to our town,” Mahr said, “especially something as wonderful as this studio that has something for everyone in the family. There is a lot of synergy here, as we were voted by New Jersey Magazine as number three in the state for being the best town for families.”
The families that attended Saturday morning enjoyed free gifts, raffles, snacks and tea and had an opportunity to meet the owners and staff and purchase seven days of yoga for $7.
The owners, Evelyn and Ricardo Lisojo, have many years of experience and are committed to sharing Chair Yoga and Gentle Restorative Therapeutic Yoga for seniors and people wishing a gentler form of practice, a staple of their professional practice since 2003. Other classes offered include family yoga, children’s yoga, yoga dance classes, meditation, and workshops for all ages.
Yoga is an ancient philosophy and practice that has grown in modern times to service more than 20 million people in the United States with benefits such as stress reduction, increased physical fitness as well as emotional benefits.
“Our mission is to render with compassion, intelligence and experience adapted yoga classes that meet and enhance any phase and goal of the student needs while honoring the philosophy of Yoga. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach to Yoga or exercise.”
