On Sunday, September 30th, Gateway National Recreation Area held its Grand
Re-Opening of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse and Fort Hancock Post Museum. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse, which has been a landmark of our area for over 250 years, was closed for renovation, and the Fort Hancock Post Museum had been closed since 2010 after sustaining damage in Superstorm Sandy. These newly-renovated buildings will be a wonderful opportunity for our community to continue to explore the rich history of both Middletown Township and Monmouth County.
