SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce (GWACC) held its latest membership drive at the JCC of Central Jersey on Monday.GWACC co-hosts for the event Chris Devine, chairman, and Heather Robinson, executive director, highlighted the benefits of becoming a member, including its networking events and opportunities, membership directory, public events, member discounts, and educational programs. Chamber members include business owners from the towns of Fanwood, Garwood, Mountainside, Scotch Plains, and Westfield.
The GWACC’s upcoming events include The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Investors Panel moderated by radio personality Bernie Wagenblast at which student businesses will seek funding for their ventures on Wednesday, March 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Westfield High School Auditorium. Members of the Investors Panel include local business owners and executives.
YEA!, is a groundbreaking educational program that takes high school students through the process of starting and running real businesses over the course of a full academic year. Students work in close cooperation with local business and community leaders and educators to develop ideas and objectives, write business plans, pitch potential investors, obtain funding, register with governmental agencies, develop their brand identity and launch their own fully functioning businesses.
The GWACC’s Monthly Open Networking Breakfast at Michele's on Prospect on Tuesday, April 1 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The Chamber also hosts street fairs in downtown Westfield, Lunch & Learn educational seminars, networking socials, and the Westfield Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from July through October.
