SCOTCH PLAINS/ FANWOOD, NJ – Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr hosted a Democratic Fundraiser at Darby Road Restaurant in Scotch Plains on Monday evening, with special guest Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Barbara Buono.
Mayor Mahr, who is also Fanwood's Democratic Chairperson, rallied support for Sen. Buono's candidacy. Buono is challenging incumbent Chris Christie in this year's November election.
Sen. Buono shared her vision for New Jersey with the approx. 100 people who attended. She spoke of her intent to fight for New Jersey’s middle class who, in her view, have lost their voice in Trenton.
The enthusiastic crowd of supporters cheered Sen. Buono, Mayor Mahr and Assemblywoman Linda Stender. Others present at the event included Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich, County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi, Scotch Plains Mayor Kevin Glover and Roselle Mayor Jamel Holley, along with Council members from Fanwood, Scotch Plains, Westfield and Summit.
“This was a wonderful event and I am grateful for the strong show of support,” said Mayor Mahr.
