PATERSON, NJ - Paterson’s citywide camera system was put to good use Wednesday when Officer Edgar Torres, while monitoring hot spots across the city, observed a man engaged in a verbal altercation in the area of 92 Carroll Street at approximately 9:17 p.m.

During the course of that confrontation, Torres observed the male produce a dark colored handgun from his pocket and immediately began broadcasting this to street units, providing a complete description of the male, and constantly updating responding Street Crime Unit Detectives and patrol officers as to the male’s present location.

Arriving simultaneously were Sergeant Richard LaTrecchia, along with Detectives James Jenkins, Mustafa Dombayci, and Suquan Gary, all assigned to the city’s Street Crime Unit. They immediately approached the male, identified as Jacqueesh Samuels, 27, Paterson, and recovered the loaded firearm from his pants pocket.
