TRENTON, NJ - A Hamilton Township police officer faced gunfire Wednesday, according to a statement from the New Jersey State Police.

According to the report, the officer was assigned to the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Central Unit Task Force when he observed a shooting in progress in the area of West State Street and Parkside Avenue in Trenton at approximately 2:17 p.m. 

While the unmarked car he was operating was struck the officer was not injured.

After attempting to flee the four suspects, three males and one female, were apprehended. Several weapons were discovered and recovered during the investigation.
