WEST ESSEX, NJ – TAPinto West Essex is proud to highlight one of its main sponsors this week, Handi-Lift Inc., a local provider of home chairlifts and commercial accessibility solutions.
Handi-Lift Inc. is a family business, locally owned and operated by James Boydston and his father Doug Boydston. Doug and his parents, Donald and Daphne Boydston, founded Handi-Lift in 1975 and has since, become the leading accessibility contractor in the New Jersey and New York.
“We love to help families who need our services, said James Boydston, third generation owner of Handi-Lift. “The stairlifts allow people with mobility impairments to move freely about in their own homes.”
James, who is actively involved with the day to day operations of Handi-Lift, learned the business by working with his father and grandfather, who originally worked in the commercial elevator industry.
This past May, James was appointed to the Elevator Escalator Moving Walkway Mechanics Licensing Board. A board newly created as a result of a law passed at the end of 2012 which will involve setting new regulations for licensing lift and elevator mechanics in New Jersey.
Doug talks more about Handi-Lift and their mission and customer speaks about what services mean to her mom.
Handi-Lift takes their trade seriously and promises to provide “Accessibility with Dignity,” which includes step by step guidance from their experts. “When someone calls us, our main objective is to provide them with the best care possible. For this reason, we will even service our competitors’ lifts. We also have our trained, experienced technicians ready to go on nights, weekends and holidays,” said Jim.

“Because of our lifts, our clients can stay in their home. This is huge because alternatively a person would have to move to a new home, stay somewhere else while recovering from an injury or even have to hire extra caretakers. All of these alternatives can be very costly and emotional,” said James.
