The Independence Day weekend festivities will include a dynamic firework extravaganza on Monday, July 4, featuring two separate displays synced to music and produced by the nationally-acclaimed Fireworks by Grucci. As the largest fireworks display in New Jersey, the first show will illuminate the skies above the Marina District starting at 9:20 p.m., with another display beginning at 9:45 p.m. along the Boardwalk. The Wildwoods Vietnam Memorial Wall Foundation hosts the Wildwoods Beach and Boardwalk Patriotic 5K Run and 1-Mile Family Fun Walk – a special event honoring America – on Monday, the Fourth of July, at 9 a.m. Hosted in the cities of Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, the run will take place on the Wildwoods Boardwalk and the island’s award-winning beaches. The 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk will begin on the boardwalk at the Wildwoods Sign and continue north to the Wildwoods Convention Center Boardwalk Extension and down to the beach. The route turns south on the hard packed sand to Primrose Road in Wildwood Crest and loops back to the Wildwoods Convention Center. An awards ceremony will commence immediately following the run at the Wildwoods Vietnam Veterans Wall adjacent to Fox Park.

The Patriotic 5K Run is open to all ages and Patriotic Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female “Over All” runners and the top three male and female runners in the following age brackets: 19 and Under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 plus. Prizes will also be presented to the best dressed Patriotic Baby, Student, Adult and Family participating in the 5K Run and/or 1-Mile Family Fun Walk.

A commemorative t-shirt will be guaranteed to all participants who pre-register at before Friday, July 1, otherwise while supplies last. Onsite event registration will begin at the Wildwoods Convention Center at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 4. The Grand Marshal of the event will be Wildwood Crest Police Officer and Navy Reservist, Petty Officer 1st Class Jon Weigand, who recently returned to the Wildwoods after serving the United States in Afghanistan.
