Harlem Wizards to Take on SPF All-Stars in Fundraiser on Oct. 2nd

UNICO, the Italian American service organization, supports a variety of causes, including education, mental health, and cultural events.

SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- The renowned Harlem Wizards, featuring local hoops legend Jack “Blackjack” Ryan will battle the SPF All-Stars on Thursday, Oct. 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. 

Leading the Scotch Plains-Fanwood All-Stars will be Coach Father John Paladino along with players including Scotch Plains Police Chief Brian Mahoney, Fanwood Chief Richard Trigo, Freeholder Al Mirabella, and Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr.

"This will be an amazing family event, and it's happening in our backward," said Scotch Plains Council Member Colleen Gialanella. "Advance ticket sales are priced at $17 for adults, and $15 for students to keep this event affordable and fun for the entire family."

Proceeds will benefit the Scotch Plains-Fanwood chapter of UNICO, the Italian American service organizations that supports scholarships, Columbus Day activities, mental health initiatives and other worthy causes. 

The Harlem Wizards were founded in 1962 by sports promoter Howie Davis, whose vision was to put a different spin on show basketball. More than 50 years later, the Wizards are an institution, creating awe-inspiring fundraiser events for schools and non-profits.The team plays over 300 games across the U.S.  and raises in excess of $1 million annually in contests against local community leaders, teachers, coaches and others.
