SHORT HILLS, NJ - The Hartshorn School eagerly shared holiday spirit once again this year through the “Embrace a Child” outreach program, a collaboration with the NJ Department of Children and Families, Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
The Hartshorn community provided holidays gifts -- including toys, clothes, winter coats and accessories and luggage -- for 175 children currently in foster care in Essex County.
Each of the homerooms “embraced” a child in this effort as well. Teachers and parents took time to explain the importance of this project to the students and made time in the school-day for “wrapping parties.”
This way, the children could participate more fully in the spirit of giving.
The best part is that Hartshorn students were once again able to help spread holiday cheer to children in need. 175 children will definitely have a happy holiday this year!
